by Pariah on Mar.31, 2009, under Humorous, Random

These are all from my collection, they’re not motivationl pictures, just done in the style of motivational pictures. Everytime I see pictures that make me laugh I save them, usually they’re from forums I belong to, or google searches when I’m trying to find some to post to those same forums, but anyways, here’s the best of the motivational pic folder:

When Metal Heads Come out to Play

by Pariah on Mar.26, 2009, under Humorous

Ok, so a friend of mine has befallen to curse of World of Warcraft, he was dragged into it by fellow coworkers. I keep trying to lure him away with a better MMO in my opinion anyways (LotRO), but to face the facts, all MMO’s are addictive time suckers, but LotRO at least has a nice storyline instead of just grinding from mount to mount. Ok, I’ll stop poking at WoW, I was a WoW addict at one time. Back on topic, what happens when you bring a music lover and a metal head into WoW, easy you get metal head characters. My friend based his character, a human mage named Devintownsnd, around Devin Townsend. For those who don’t know who Devin Townsend is here’s a short summary:

“Devin Garret Townsend (born May 5, 1972) is a Canadian multi-instrumentalist musician, vocalist and record producer. He was the founding member and driving force of the extreme metal outfit Strapping Young Lad, and has released a multitude of solo albums.

Townsend’s musical career began when he was discovered by a record label in 1993 and was asked to perform lead vocals on Steve Vai’s album Sex & Religion. After recording and touring with Vai, Townsend was discouraged by what he found in the music industry, and vented his anger on a solo album released under the pseudonym Strapping Young Lad. He soon assembled a band under the name, and released the critically acclaimed City in 1997. He simultaneously wrote the complementary Ocean Machine: Biomech, a blend of pop rock and progressive metal, and released it under his own name. Since then, Townsend has continued to write and record albums with Strapping Young Lad, along with solo efforts released under the name Devin Townsend and, on two occasions, with The Devin Townsend Band.

Townsend’s trademark production style, featuring a heavily multitracked wall of sound, has been compared to the styles of Phil Spector and Frank Zappa. His versatile vocal delivery ranges from screaming to singing, and his songwriting is similarly diverse in nature. Townsend’s musical style is rooted in metal, and his albums are written to express different aspects of his personality. Strapping Young Lad delivered dark, extreme, aggressive music which blended industrial and death metal, while Townsend’s solo releases are more evocative of progressive rock. Townsend has attributed the two sides of his musical output to his bipolar disorder, a condition which figured heavily into such releases as his 1998 album Infinity and Strapping Young Lad’s 2005 release Alien.” *

Back to the point, I felt the need to show the comparison of his character and the real Devin Townsend, I found it hilarious, he’s got it covered right down to the skullet, hair color, facial hair, only the expression is off.
